Can my landlord tell me how to live on and keep up my rental home?

Everytime my landlady comes over she complains about something, she dosnt like how the cars are parked in the backyard(which is an all concrete parking area), the yard needs to be done, we had a party and the chairs we rented were neatly stacked off to the side and she wants them in a different area of the house. From what I understand, after you rent a property if becomes Your property and the landlord cant tell you how to live on it or keep your things. My house is not cluttered, dirty, unorganized and my yard and backyard is not overgrown wtih weeds and is kept up by a yard person. My husband works on cars and she knew this before renting to us. I am trying to find out if there is a website or something that I can e mail her to tell her that she has no legal right to tell us what we can and cant do with the property such as working on cars or having a birthday party? Please if someone can help with any information pleaase let me know? thank you! I live in california by the way and I my rental agreement does not say anything about not being able to work on cars or about how often the yard has to be done.
