Living in an apartment complex, woman says she will tell on us for using sidewalk ?

we liv ein townhomes. the sidewalk goes in front of all our apartments and leads to the dumpster and to the playground on the other end. this old woman yelled at my 3 year old and told her she cannot use the sidewalk in front of her house. I went over there and she threatend to tell the landlady if we dont stop using the sidewalk in front of her house. It goes right to the playground. her unit is the one right by the playground. Would the landlady think she is a petty idiot ? or can we really get in trouble for using sidewalks in the complex?
