If i have bad credit rating and fail a credit check will i still be able to rent a property?

If i have bad credit rating and fail a credit check will i still be able to rent a property... I'm looking at share renting a house with my friend but fear my credit rating is bad and will fail the check. The landlady has already asked for a guarentor incase the tenants renting don't meet payments. I can prove i can pay the rent. im just worried she will look for other tenants. whats my likely hood
